Sevilla Rocks at Hacienda el Abra

These are located east* of Zipaquirá, near Tocancipá town limits. The estate where these rocks are found is called “El Abra” (“the fissure”) due to the huge opening through which the water filling the plateau flowed out thousands of years ago, possibly caused by geological settling. There are hieroglyphics and pictographs on the rock walls, etched in complex indelible colors. Paleo-indigenous findings have been made as well as found stone instruments used to prepare and clean animal skins and for woodworking, chiseled chipped points and other lithic tools.
